Creo Parametric

Getting Started: Download & Install Creo Parametric
Setting up Creo Parametric doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ve broken PTC’s official setup path into five clear steps—from checking your system to getting your license in hand.
Whether you’re installing for the first time, moving to a new computer, or renewing an existing license, the steps below are the same—you’ll choose the option that matches your situation once you get to requesting your license file.
Step 1: Check Your System Requirements
Confirm compatibility, administrative privileges, TCP/IP, and review Creo Hardware Notes and FlexNet License Server Hardware Notes through eSupport.
Step 2: Set Up Your PTC eSupport Account
You’ll need an active PTC eSupport account before you can download the installer. If you haven’t set one up yet, you can do so with any one of the following:
- Service Contract Number
- Sales Order Number
- Site Number
You’ll find these in the confirmation email PTC sent after your purchase. Can’t locate them? Log a case with our support team and we’ll help you track them down.
Step 3: Log a Case
Our support team can help you locate your Service Contract Number, Sales Order Number, or Site Number.
Step 4: Download Creo Parametric
Log in to PTC eSupport → Download Center → Order or download Software Updates → select Creo Parametric and your version → extract files and run setup.exe in Step 4.
Step 5: Install Creo Parametric
Use the Creo Installation Assistant: Install new software, accept the license agreement, set up licensing on the License Identification screen, select applications, then Install and Finish.
No license server needed (locked)
With a locked license, Creo is licensed to this one computer. The license file is tied to the machine’s Host ID and installs directly on it, so there’s no license server to set up and no server software to run.
A license server is only needed for floating licenses, where several users on a network share a pool of licenses. If more people need Creo than you have computers licensed, or your team wants to share licenses, ask us about floating licenses.
Setting up server (floating)
For floating licenses, install and configure the license server with install_license_server.exe before clients can check out seats. Use port@servername (or triad list) on each client machine.
Step 6: Get Your License
Every Creo Parametric seat needs a license to run. Choose locked or floating above, then pick the scenario that matches what you’re doing.
Whether it’s a new purchase, a reconfiguration for a new computer, or an update to a license you already have, our team can get it moving.
Choose what you need:
New Install
On the License Identification screen, expand Node Locked License Generation, enter Sales Order Number or product code, and click Install Licensing—or request a license file through MRC.
Run install_license_server.exe, generate the server license, then point clients to port@servername when installing Creo.
Update Your License
Run setup.exe → Setup license, enter new product code or drop in the updated license file, then Finish.
Stop lmadmin_ptc, run reconfigure.exe, replace the license file, restart the service.
Reconfigure for a New Computer
Get the new Host ID/MAC, request a license for the new computer, then Reconfigure licenses in an existing installation.
Move or add a license server, apply the license on the new server, update each client’s license source.
Silent Install
Perform one interactive install first to generate the XML config, then run setup.exe –xml "<path>". Licensing must already be valid in the XML or environment.
Same silent-install workflow—point the XML license source at your configured license server before deploying.
